Cooney: “Postmaster General DeJoy and Greg Gianforte seem intent on doing everything they can to undermine USPS and the essential services it provides.”

MONTANA –  Today, Lt. Governor Mike Cooney applauded Governor Bullock’s lawsuit against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy over his damaging changes to USPS mail delivery policy. Cooney has been speaking out against the removal of mail collection boxes and processing machines for weeks, and he rallied with local American Postal Workers Union representatives to protest the changes. Meanwhile, Cooney’s opponent – New Jersey millionaire Greg Gianforte – voted against emergency funding for USPS twice and praised Louis DeJoy as a “logistics expert.”

Montanans all across the state rely on the Postal Service to pay their bills, order life-saving medication, vote in the upcoming election and more – I applaud Governor Bullock for standing up for our Post Office and the timely delivery of our mail,” said Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney. “A fully funded Postal Service shouldn’t be partisan, but Postmaster General DeJoy and Greg Gianforte seem intent on doing everything they can to undermine USPS and the essential mail delivery service it provides. As Governor, I’ll always stand up for a strong Postal Service, and I’ll never let politics get in the way of doing what’s right for Montanans.”
