In a dominant showing of support from Montanans, Cooney raises more than $670k ahead of last major fundraising deadline
MONTANA—With less than 50 days until the Nov. 3 election, Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney’s campaign for governor yet again set another fundraising record. In a dominant showing of support from Montanans, Cooney raised more than $670k during the last major fundraising period of the campaign. The race between Mike Cooney, Governor Steve Bullock’s Lt. Governor, and Greg Gianforte is the most competitive governor’s race in the country.
“This is the single most competitive governor’s race in the country,” said Communications Director Ronja Abel. “The future of health care in Montana is at stake. Public lands are at stake. Public education is at stake. Montanans know Greg Gianforte is a no-show Congressman who moved here from New Jersey and sued to block their access to public lands. With 50 days left, we’re confident voters will choose lifelong Montanan Mike Cooney at the ballot box instead.”
Cooney more than doubled Governor Steve Bullock’s fundraising during a similar period in 2016, despite contribution limits that are three times lower. Bullock and Cooney, his running mate at the time, went on to beat Greg Gianforte by 4 points.
